Current Pedagogic Tasks
In my lectureship (currently 20% of a whole time) I assign 10% of the time to the undergraduate level and 10% to PhD students, both for teaching and advising thesis and dissertations.
Current courses at the Department of Social and Economic Geography, Uppsala University: Urban and Social Geography (Graduate level); Qualitative Methods for Human Geography (PhD level) and Urban theory (PhD level).
At my home university I have advised approximately 30 thesis in the second, third and fourth (Master) levels of Geography education.

Extension Education
· 1999-2003 I was in charge of the planning of and teaching
in the extension course "Culture, Communication and Ethnic
Relations", held in Stockholm and administered by the Uppsala
University. The courses were oriented towards practitioners and
politicians that come in contact with this kind of questions in
their daily work. A total of approximately 150 students passed
through the courses.
· I am permanently holding diverse lectures at different
universities in Sweden and Europe, and Latin America, as well
as in public places and organizations for an average of approximately
20 hours each year.

Organization of International Conferences and
Workshops
· In May 1997, together with the geographer Dr. Aida Aragao-Lagergren.
I organized a three days seminar in Mexico city, in order to constitute
the network ALFA-PUREAL. The network ALFA-PUREAL was a co-operation
betweeen European and Latin American universities for the development
of the area of "Geography of Urban and Regional Planning",
with funding from EU/ALFA.
· In September 1999, together with the Economic Historian
Dr. Paulina de los Reyes, I organized a conference in Uppsala
with the title "Latin America at the Threshold of a New Millenium.
Democracy, Markets and Equity". The conference was sponsored
by the Swedish SIDA-SAREC and by the Collegium for Development
studies at Uppsala University.
· In December 1999, together with the practitioner Kristine
Dösen from the Swedish Ministry of Culture, I organized the
workshop "Divided Cities: Best Practices for the Social Inclusion
of Ethnic Minorities in Local Communities", at the Fourth
International Metropolis Conference in Washington DC.
· In October 2000, together with a working team from the
Sundbyberg High School in Stockholm, I organized the "First
International Conference on Linkworking in Europe".
· In July 2003, I organized the workshop "Gender
and Space in Latin American Urban and Rural Areas" at the
51st International Congress of Americanists in Santiago de Chile,
"Rethinking the Americas at the Threshold of the 21st Century".
· In March 2005, I organized (toghether with Christian
Abrahamsson, Kenny Jansson and Mikkel Schöning) a two days
symposium in Uppsala with the title "Geographies of Transgression".
The symposium was sponsored by Formas.
· In April 2005, I organized (together with Kenny Jansson)
a workshop "Vem bryr sig om bostadsområdet" (Who
cares about the neighbourhood?) at Bostadsveckan (Housing week)
IBF, Uppsala University.

. In December 1-5, 2008 I organized the third LANHUR workshop at MACDES conference in Havanna, Cuba.
