I am a researcher associate at Institute for Housing and Urban
Research, Uppsala University, Sweden.
My research focuses on residential mobility and housing choice,
migration, urban and housing models, geography and social justice.
In 1994 I completed my Ph.D. dissertation in social and economic
geography, about residential vacancy chain models as a mean to analyse
the relation between mobility and housing opportunity on the urban
housing market. I have been involved in research on housing career
and economic progress for immigrants, who immigrated for different
reasons to Sweden and during different time periods. I have also
done research about housing preferences and demand sensitive rent
setting, as well as research about social cohesion and poverty in
the EU founded research project The importance of housing in safeguarding
social cohesion in Europe (SOCOHO).
I am at present in involved in a research project about household
mobility on tight housing markets and how that mobility is influenced
by the mix of dwellings in new construction. The study tackles mobility
on the housing market from two perspectives - first on structural
conditions for residential mobility and second on household's actual
mobility and the decision making process behind these moves.
