Current research
Beside my teaching and tutoring at the Department of Sociology,
Uppsala University, my substantial research interests at IBF are
broadly within two fields, urban studies and sports studies, and
in that order.
Within the field of urban studies. I am now mainly working on
questions of place and place constitution, the politics of place,
and routes of gentrification. Yet, my interests here are quite
broad, in terms both of spatial scale levels and historical depth.
Empirically, most of the cases I am working on are Swedish ones,
even Stockholm ones, though some comparisons are made with Hamburg.
I also do some sports studies. Presently, I am also engaged in
a longitudinal study of soccer youth - girls and boys - in Sweden.
Theoretically, I am interested in applying sociological theories
of a general kind, trying to spatialise and temporalise, that
is, to contextualise, them. I do not favour any specific research
methods, but think that the choice here is a question of subject
matter.
