Guest researcher at IBF

We are pleased to welcome professor John Clapp, who is presently visiting the institute.

Prof. Clapp ("JC" to those who know him) has 20 years of teaching experience, lots of scholarly publications, some consulting and full time experience in business and government. He has degrees from Harvard and Colombia. He is currently involved in developing and producing house price indices (analogous to the stock market indices) for cities in Connecticut and the US. He is interested in building a bridge between local market information and decisions about lending and investments. Technology provides the foundation for this bridge. Geographical Information Systems (GIS) may be used to organize, analyze and display information about local markets. The internet makes this information available in a form useful to real estate decision makers. Prof. Clapp enjoys swimming, backpacking, bicycling and jogging.
